Colossians 1:21-22 - The Christian's Biography
Colossians 1:21-22 - "And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach..."
These verses give the complete history of every believer. They describe our--
- Past condition – We were “alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds…” (verse 21). We were estranged from God, our though process was defective, and we acted wrongly.
- Present condition – We are “reconciled…” (verse 22a) The word means we have been made right with God. Verse 22 makes it clear that our reconciliation was accomplished by God, not by us. And He accomplished it through the death of Jesus.
- Future condition – We will be presented to God “…holy and blameless and beyond reproach…” When believers stand before God, He will not see their past sins; He will see His sinless Son who became the sacrifice for their sins.
